ABOUT
Beyond Borders
or centuries, humans have been defining and defending their territories and putting up boundaries to secure it.
Borders, once identified as just a bounding line, have now evolved into a complex entity which is shaped by the history, culture and economics of the area.
Today as the world grows increasingly interconnected, we can’t help but question what role these demarcations will play in our common future.

Are borders still necessary to protect sovereignty and preserve cultural identity, or have they become obsolete in a world of interdependence and globalisation?
The concept of borders is challenged when events like climate change force mass migration.
We want to explore the multifaceted nature of borders, its historical roots, implications and future trajectories. By examining various cases from around the world, we aim to understand the complex interplay between borders and identity, mobility, security and socioeconomic disparities.
In doing so, the idea is to shed light on how these lines can both exacerbate and mitigate inequalities and to identify strategies in building a more equitable society.
